We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst dedicated to our Commercial & Public Sector Business Unit.

Work Location : Markham (flexibility to work downtown occasionally as required)

We have a challenging and rewarding career opportunity for a Senior Financial Analyst to take accountability for the support of CGI business units and their operations by delivering sound, well-documented analyses, project and contract accounting treatment rationale, forecasts and reconciliations.

Reporting directly into the Business Unit (BU) Finance group, you will be primarily responsible for partnering with operational leadership and finance colleagues to deliver accurate, timely and highly valued accounting and financial support.

Your future duties and responsibilities

  • Analytical support of the budgeting and forecast process, delivering well supported and documented financial plans.
  • Working closely with BU partners to understand their business, help them understand their financial drivers, and challenge their assumptions.
  • Managing the monthly financial close; delivering accurate, insightful and timely analysis of financial results compared against forecasts and budgets.
  • Preparing and presenting financial results with meaningful and accurate commentary to BU stakeholders.
  • Advising and executing on financial accounting for contracts; understanding key terms in contracts, financial implications of changes in those terms and the technical accounting impact of contracts.
  • Analysis of balance sheet entries ensuring balance sheet integrity.
  • Manage special requests and collaborate on in-house projects, including continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Required qualifications to be successful in this role

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, Business or Economics.
  • Obtained or working towards obtaining a CPA accounting designation.
  • Minimum 5 years+ in operations finance experience, ideally in a business partnership role.
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to communicate to non-finance stakeholders.
  • A strong work ethic and flexibility to meet dynamic business needs.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)
  • Experience, proficiency and comfort in communicating and working effectively at various levels, including senior management.
  • A motivated self-starter that takes initiative to bring issues to resolution.
