We currently have an exciting creative opportunity for an Intake Specialist at our Mental Health and Substance Use Residential Services .

This position may be required to work at more than one location within the Simon Fraser area of New Westminster, Burnaby, Tri-cities and Maple Ridge areas of British Columbia.

The position is within the Substance Use Residential Treatment program to provide intake and transitional services for clients with substance use disorders requiring residential substance use and supporting housing referral services.

As you build on your education and career experience, you will :

  • Assess, screen, lead and match clients to appropriate residential beds within the provincial MHSU residential programs
  • Maintain individualized plans for clients using relapse prevention strategies and assists clients with linkages to vocational, therapeutic, health, social and education services
  • Provide crisis intervention and refer clients to emergency services as required and recommends appropriate treatment and support services
  • Follow-up and assist clients with retaining affordable and safe housing
  • Provide counselling and brief intervention support to clients and their families by interacting regularly with client to elicits concerns, identify goals, expectations, and support resources
  • Facilitate client access to services such as medical appointments, support recovery groups and social programs
  • Ensure adherence to process algorithms for efficient admissions and reporting of vacancies, as a representative of Fraser Health, in coordination with the Manager / Coordinator
  • Participates in program planning, development and evaluation by attending meetings and in-services and reviewing policies and procedures
  • To join the team you will have :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work or other allied health related discipline
  • Two years' recent experience providing treatment and case management to individuals with problematic substance use or mental health issues or an equal combination of education training and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle

    Day shifts : 0800-1600


    1000-1800Evening shifts : 1200-2000
