Position Summary

BCIT’s School of Computing and Academic Studies is seeking a qualified Philosophy Instructor for the Department of Liberal Studies.

The Instructor will teach applied ethics, or health ethics, to students enrolled in BCIT degree programs.

LIBS 7002 is an applied ethics course for students enrolled in baccalaureate degree programs. The course canvasses a range of issues relevant to careers in areas such as accounting, architectural science, business administration, biotechnology, civil engineering, computer systems, construction management, electronics, environmental engineering, environmental health, forensic investigation, geomatics / GIS, management, manufacturing, nursing and radiation therapy.

LIBS 7021 is a health ethics course, primarily for students enrolled in nursing degree programs.

  • Successful post-secondary teaching experience, including teaching diverse student populations.
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience.
  • PhD in philosophy, with a background in ethics, informal logic and practical reasoning.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, collaboration, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Computer skills (MS Office, use of e-mail, use of internet); experience with D2L an asset.
