    Reporting to the Portfolio Director Digital Health Solutions, this role will be part of a dedicated Agile team, and will be accountable for implementing the DHS Business strategy and goals throughout a highly dynamic, fast paced solution development process.

    The Product Owner will work with the Agile team to transform business concepts & ideas into digital solutions, and is accountable for achieving the desired business results, while ensuring efficiency, high quality and intense client focus.

    He / she will work closely with DHS Product Managers, UX designers, business and IT project partners to define and build innovative products & services that will engage our clients and meet their health journey needs.

    The product owner will ensure a thorough understanding of our clients, our competitors as well as digital innovators to build optimal products.

    He / she will focus on managing timelines and priorities to hit the sweet spot between client needs, business goals, budget and and technology choices.

    Responsibilities :

  • Working in an agile I / T development process and supporting the delivery team on a continuous basis, the Product Owner and will be responsible for maximizing the value of their product, working closely with the project teams and in particular with IT.
  • The Product Owner is responsible for creating / updating the Product Backlog and the delegation of this work while remaining accountable for the outcomes.
  • He / she manage the backlog daily , adjusting priorities and expectation to maximize the business value delivered.

  • The Product Owner is an advocate for the mobile and web experience by owning issues and outcomes as move the roadmap forward to completion
  • Work with other product managers and business partners in compliance, legal, IT, among others, to resolve product issues and to create a seamless integration.
  • Maintain a good understanding of clients / users, their needs, and pain points, and remain at the leading edge of existing market solutions and their components
  • Develop and maintain a solid understanding of user behaviour and web and mobile usage to inform ongoing refinement of the vision.
  • Qualifications

  • Previous working experience as a product owner for 5-7 years.
  • Strong understanding and experience working in agile / lean development methodologies.
  • Experience working with digital products, preferably in the financial services industry
  • Strong collaboration skills, working with cross functional business units across web and mobile, contributing ideas for standards and processes that help Sun Life Financial stay aligned in digital channels
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills to analyze options and arrive at the best solution while building strong relationships and influencing other stakeholders
  • Innovative thinking that can break down barriers and provide unique solutions
  • Continuous learning mind-set in order to test-and-learn
  • Strong skills at process definition and optimization, developing and building upon best practices
  • Sharp analytical skills to develop or leverage reporting tools to identify the user behavior and measure performance of digital channels
  • Preferred Skills

  • Degree in Technology, Marketing or Business
  • Health and financial services knowledge
  • The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.

    In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.

    Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
