To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com Job Description What You’ll Be Doing Reporting to the Senior Director, Accounting Policy and Advisory, the Director, Accounting Policy and Advisory will participate in the development, interpretation and implementation of CIBC’s accounting requirements with a focus on the impact that IBOR transition will have on hedge accounting and other aspects of the accounting for financial instruments.

As part of this process you will work closely with the VP Chief Accountant and will consult with and obtain input from partners in Finance (including Treasury, the Controllership teams and the CFO group teams), Technology and other impacted business areas.

As a Director, Accounting Policy & Advisory you will liaise with the Canadian Bankers Association, other banks and the External Auditors on related financial accounting and reporting issues.

How You’ll Succeed Technical Knowledge and Ability to Problem Solve You have very strong technical knowledge of the accounting for financial instruments, including hedge accounting.

You have the ability to elicit necessary information to provide value-added implementation and advisory services to internal business partners.

You are a problem-solver with strong analytical skills, and will work with project managers, other Finance teams and other business partners to lead the resolution of complex accounting and disclosure issues related to financial instruments, including the transition to IBOR.

Conceptual and organizational skills being able to see the big picture in a complex environment and translate your understanding and insights into a workable project plan Communication You have outstanding verbal and written communication skills which allows you to effectively communicate with stakeholders to identify and resolve issues.

You are able to "sell" recommendations and obtain cooperation across functional groups to achieve objectives. Being Proactive You try to anticipate challenges and you aim to provide a no-surprises’ experience to stakeholders and senior management by keeping the team apprised of issues.

You have a strong understanding of financial instruments and IFRS and experience with the implementation of new accounting standards.
