BBA is looking for an engineer specialized in hydrology or hydraulics with strong experience in water resource management.
The fields covered by this position include the study of watersheds, the study of lakes and water courses, as well as quantitative and qualitative management of water resources.
The incumbent will work within a multidisciplinary team that carries out a variety of projects, including mining, municipal drainage, water treatment, road and rail transportation infrastructure and energy projects.
Water management will be a critical issue that requires approaches, methods and means adapted to each type of mandate and its context.
Environmental and health and safety issues are present in all the projects BBA carries out and are taken into consideration by our teams at every stage.
The person we are seeking will work closely with other BBA experts and with clients to define, design and implement the best solutions for managing these challenges.
Onboarding training is provided to all new employees within the first two weeks of working at BBA. Engineers will also be offered training on engineering and project management procedures.
Afterward, technical training and training for software to be used for work will be available, where necessary.
The incumbent will be expected to :
Perform hydrological studies, including watershed studies, hydrological modelling, hydro-climatological statistical analyses, climate change impact assessment and assessment of flooding-related risks, impacts and adaptation measures.
Design hydraulic infrastructures (dikes and dams, spillways, weirs, water intakes, ditches or canals, culverts, retention / holding ponds, pumping stations).
Carry out or have carried out one-, two- and three-dimensional hydraulic simulations.
Prepare hydrological and mass balance reports
Evaluate hydrological conditions for water quality, treatment and environmental monitoring.
Design and install measurement stations and equip them with instrumentation.
Design water treatment systems and size the equipment required.
Perform risk analyses.
Contribute to design reviews, preparation of plans and estimates, preparation of proposals and preparation of applications for permits and authorizations with government authorities.

Bachelor's degree in Applied Sciences (or equivalent) or master’s degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Hydraulics or Hydrology
From 5 to 10 years of experience as an engineer or specialist in hydrology / hydraulics and in water resource management
Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec or in the process of becoming one
Proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written
Very strong communication and teamwork skills
Good knowledge of the analysis methods and modelling tools used in hydrology, hydraulics and water resource management
Asset : knowledge of municipal and industrial water treatment
Asset : experience in the mining sector
Asset : basic knowledge of instrumentation and hydrometry
Asset : knowledge of legislation and regulations governing water management in Québec and across Canada
Asset : knowledge of computer programming
Asset : current knowledge of new technologies applied to the field of water
Asset : familiarity with the science, impacts and adaptation measures related to climate change
