We are currently seeking Switcher-Producer (Show Directors) for our newsrooms. As a Switcher-Producer (Show Director) in a newsroom you will.

  • Perform duties related to switching and directing, on a variable schedule (days, nights and / or weekends). In more concrete terms, you will work on presentation, shotlisting, program preparation and other related production duties.
  • From a technical perspective, you will be responsible for checking program requirements and quality. You will also perform duties such as programming and operating the automated presentation switching system;
  • operate peripherals such as the character generator, audio console, CCUs, robotics and intercom; and demonstrate sound editorial judgment throughout the production process.

    Morever, from a directing perspective, you are passionate and love multi-tasking in a live environment. You will direct the host during production to ensure that a quality product goes to air.

    You make a number of technical and editorial decisions during a single program recording and ensure consistency with our brand image.

    You love working with people, which makes it easier for you to integrate into production and editorial teams and play a key role in the program preparation.

    Qualifications

    We are looking for a candidate with the following : A) Qualifications :

  • College diploma in TV production and postproduction techniques, or other relevant field
  • Three or more years’ experience performing technical production and / or directing duties
  • B) Competencies :

  • Able to work well under pressure for extended periods with multiple people during live broadcasts
  • Editorial judgment, leadership and decision-making skills
  • Self-starter, self-reliant
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluent in spoken and written French
  • Good general knowledge
  • TV production experience in a news environment (asset)
  • Keen interest in working in a newsroom environment
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Proficiency with IT tools
