The Position :

The successful applicant will be developing SED Systems newest generation of wide-bandwidth and high-speed RF products and solutions that implement cutting edge DSP algorithms and the most advanced FPGAs available in the market today.

SED is looking for exceptional and versatile candidates to be a part of a talented and growing Hardware Engineering team.

Responsibilities :

  • HDL coding in support of FPGA design;
  • Firmware coding;
  • Support printed circuit board design;
  • Component selection;
  • Verification testing; and,
  • Manufacturing support and systems integration and test.
  • Qualifications :

    This position will be of interest to candidates with :

  • A minimum of one to two years of engineering / design experience; and,
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or a Technologist diploma with equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in the following areas would be considered an asset :

  • Analysis tools such as Matlab;
  • Signal Processing in FPGAs or software;
  • Xilinx FPGAs and their associated tool chains;
  • Sophisticated modulation systems such as QAM, PSK and OFDM;
  • Forward error correcting systems (turbo codes, LDPC, concatenated codes...ITU J83 Annex B, Reed Solomon codes);
  • Common Industry Specifications : DOCSIS DRFI, TR 101 290, DVB-C;
  • MPEG transport stream processing;
  • Familiarity with the GNU tool chain and Linux;
  • ARM processors; and,
  • Common Industry Specifications : DOCSIS DRFI.
  • The ability to obtain a Secret security clearance and meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program is mandatory.
