Job Description :
Director, Digital Marketing & Communications, Sun Life Global Investments
Reporting to the AVP Marketing & Communications, Sun Life Global Investments, the Director, Digital Marketing & Communications is responsible for leading a team of managers and specialists focused on the development and execution of the strategic direction of all aspects of our digital client experience across both the retail and institutional businesses.
This includes providing leadership to key internal stakeholders on the introduction and evolution of technology applications and initiatives that enable SLGI to maintain market differentiation in the investment industry as well as responsibility for overseeing all digital work for SLGI including developing strategic / integrated digital marketing plans and creating an overall digital strategy encompassing Web, Social Media and Digital Communications.
In addition, in their capacity as a senior member of the SLGI marketing team, the Director, Digital Marketing & Communications will represent SLGI in a variety of cross business unit capacities and effectively collaborate with other team leaders in other business units on key marketing strategies and initiatives.
Main accountabilities :
Proactively lead the development and execution of the overall digital marketing strategy and annual / multi-year plans for SLGI to support business objectives
Oversee the execution of all digital projects and priorities within SLGI and ensure focus on projects that have the most impact to the business and long term growth
Build and manage critical relationships with IT, operations and the back office to ensure marketing operational excellence and successful implementation / resolution of business requirements / challenges
Provide technical expertise and manage the relationships when working with vendors on our various digital properties
Work closely with key areas of the businessand build a collaborative relationship to ensure that SLGI is aligning with and leveraging the best practices of other digital opportunities
Leverage insight and information / feedback received from advisors, sales, investors and key internal partners to help inform the digital strategy and marketing tactics
Actively participate in content planning and development for all SLGI web properties to ensure consistent messaging and the application of best practices
Lead the development of integrated digital marketing strategies for SLGI web properties and digital projects including social media, content marketing, email marketing, etc.
Develop and maintain online sales aids, tools and calculators designed to help the Wealth Distribution team both attract and retain assets and clients
Measure and report metrics and analytics to demonstrate awareness and consideration by target audience and to help inform and optimize future campaigns and marketing strategies / tactics
Lead, manage and coach a team of high performing digital marketers including championing training programs and development opportunities that further build the expertise of the team
Background and capabilities
A creative and technical problem solver with a successful track record of helping a company grow their business through website development, client / user experience optimization, content strategy, analytics and social media marketing
University degree with 8 years + experience as a digital marketing professional in the investment industry
Previous experience within the financial services industry, specifically the investment area, a must
Specific understanding and knowledge of investment funds, wealth insurance products as well as both the retail advisor channel and the institutional market
Strong understanding of digital technologies and communications, including digital marketing, web analytics and measurement and SEO / SEM
Self-confident and strong ability to work effectively and independently within tight deadlines, adapt to changing deadlines and ability to prioritize multiple deliverables within a cross-
functional team environment with a variety of reporting levels and varying skills / competencies
Flexible individual with creative problem-solving & strong analytical skills
Ability to confidently build relationships and effectively engage with junior colleagues through to senior executives
At least 3 years experience leading and managing a team of senior and junior colleagues
A positive leader who inspires high performance and leads by example
Familiar with best practices in digital strategy, planning and execution
