The Portrait Artist operates a standalone portrait studio specializing in premium photography services. Operate separately from the regular photo team, but also comply with all shipboard regulations and duties.

Conduct photo shoots, which take place both onboard the ship and shore-side at agreed locations. This position reports to the Photo Manager, and is responsible for capturing images of guest and carrying out sales transactions, whilst delivering excellent customer service at all times.

High levels of performance are required at all times, and it will be required to perform some duties alone and without direct supervision.

In order to consistently exceed guest expectations and provide the highest levels of product and services, additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

  • Work with Photo Manager to maximize schedule and opportunities, while meeting and exceeding company-set goals for performance and revenue.
  • Ensure all onboard advertising and promotional material is within company brand guidelines.
  • Participate in daily desk hours at various locations around the ship, to promote Perspectives program.
  • Responsible for maintainence of all equipment and working areas. Regularly clean and test cameras and lenses to ensure full working condition.
  • Communicate immediately to Photo Manager and Head Office if any problems occur.

  • Work with other onboard departments in regard to advertising and cross-promotion of products and services.
  • Assist with and participate in the Digital Camera Seminar on the sea days, as scheduled by the Photo Manager.
  • Conduct training on basic policies and procedures of Perspectives program for the photo team to provide a good working knowledge of the operation.
  • Can be transferred to other ships within the company fleet at any time at the discretion of the Miami shoreside team to meet the needs of the business.
  • This is a minimal description of duties. Other work requirements may be necessary and assigned as business or maritime law dictates.
  • Requirements :

  • High school diploma or foreign equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor Degree or foreign equivalent from a recognized educational institution is preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for this educational requirement at an equivalent rate.
  • One year of previous experience in portrait photography and sales is required.
  • Basic to Intermediate level of knowledge and experience with Lightroom, Adobe Photo Shop and ProSelect are required.
  • Must be able to properly handle photographic studio equipment (including lights, backdrops and safety equipment) with due care and attention.
  • Intermediate to advanced level English verbal and writing skills is required.
  • You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and qualify for a U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) as well as a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • In order to qualify for an MMC you must :

    Be at least 18 years of age

    Be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien

    Pass Physical Exam / Drug Screen

    Have a Reasonably Clear Background

    EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or foreign equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent from a recognized educational institution is preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for this educational requirement at an equivalent rate
  • REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES

  • Ability to live in close quarters.
  • The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) requires all crew members employed with NCL America aboard the Pride of America to hold a Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC).
  • In order to qualify for a MMC, applicants must demonstrate specific physical abilities necessary to perform shipboard duties per USCG guidelines (COMPDTPUB 16700.

    4 NVIC 04-8). Shall have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40.0 or less. Blood Pressure as per USCG a maximum 160 / 100.
