Technical Integration Lead - Transit / Rail - Toronto

This senior position will report directly to the Delivery Team Lead and will work within a team of rail related disciplines and project managers, to support the relevant delivery stream business unit with the execution of the technical design team including TA’s for all stages of Technical Engineering Design for projects assigned and to make sure technical aspects are integrated throughout the entirety of the program.

Qualifications

  • In conjunction with relevant package / tranche PM’s and / or discipline lead engineers and specialists, confirm and report on the progress of the review of all engineering designs, calculations and drawing packages prepared by Technical Assurance Consultants
  • Monitor the review of TA designs with delivery teams and Design Excellence (Dx) teams to ensure design specifications, guides, standards, and work processes initiated by the design excellence team are applied to all work practices and consistently across the portfolio of projects
  • In conjunction with project managers and engineers ensure that all design submittals from TAs have met acceptable standards of Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
  • Ensuring discipline engineers and TAs understand and apply the principals of verification and validation

  • In conjunction with project managers and technical engineering teams engage and coordinate Quality Audits of design work processes for all TA submissions
  • In conjunction with the delivery team, develop and maintain the project execution plans
  • Develop detailed scope catalogue for all projects and manage interface with other delivery units
  • Devises new approaches to solving problems, including root cause analysis
  • Plans and coordinates technical engineering training through instructor led and virtual training sessions for the Technical Team In conjunction with design excellence and MX engineering functions
  • Reviews changes in incoming / emerging Mx standards and corporate requirements to provide program level input on potential impacts to existing projects
  • Coordinates technical issues with other areas of the Organisation that may include constructability / operational requirements and technical reviews
  • Supports the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction
  • Build, strengthen, guide and mentor the Technical Project team
  • Provide support to the other departments through commissioning and bringing into use
  • Extensive knowledge of field engineering, construction and testing & commissioning (T&C) activities
  • Able to support whole life-cycle costings and feasibility assessments
  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of engineering for the project in collaboration with project controls, contracts, procurement, construction and T&C
  • Coordinates engineering efforts in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the TA’s, Design excellence team, Mx Engineering, suppliers, and contractors and between other groups
  • Support, as requested, the planning and coordination of non-project rail systems engineering work for CPG
  • Ensure external design elements are delivered as the baseline
  • Manage technical reviews of contractors, shop drawings, product data, material samples, etc
