The Women’s Health and Child Program of Eastern Health invites applications for the position of full-time Pediatrician for the Dr.

G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

This hospital has 47 acute care beds and 42 long-term care beds which include two respite care beds and two palliative care beds.

Services include anesthesia, chemotherapy, diabetes education, family practice, general surgery, gynecology, obstetrics, ICU / Cardiac, internal medicine, laboratory, palliative care, pediatrics, psychiatry, radiology, respiratory therapy, ultrasonography, and 24-

hour emergency. Other services include nursing, nutritional, pharmacy, physiotherapy, social work, and visiting specialty clinics.

This is a 2 person department where the workload and on-call duties are shared. The duties include outpatient clinics, Emergency Department and inpatient coverage, routine neonatal care, and attendance at complicated deliveries.

General clinics include assessments in sub-specialties of development, behavior, obesity, asthma, diabetes, and other chronic diseases.

Other interests can be developed based on a physician’s interest and resources available.

Excellent communication skills with a team player approach and strong commitment to high quality patient and physician services is also required.

We are affiliated with the Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador Medical School and encourage and support academic interests.

Qualifications :

Interested applicants must be eligible for full or provisional licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador () and meet the credentialing requirements of Eastern Health.

Physicians receive assistance with relocation, licensure, and immigration concerns.

Approved relocation expenses paid at 100% with a 2-year committment to Eastern Health.

  • Pay scale is in accordance with the Department of Health (DOH) salary guidelines. Specialist salary scale is : Step 1-
  • $220,147 to Step 5 - $262,714.

  • Retention package of $8,000 after first year of service, $16,000 after 24 months, and $24,000 after 36 months.
  • On-call benefits are paid in accordance with DOH guidelines.
  • Physician will receive annually 20 days of vacation, family leave, plus leave for workshops and other training.
  • Free hospital accommodations are available for the first 3 months of employment. There is a $5000 yearly housing allowance when not living in hospital accommodations.
  • Approved relocation expenses paid at 100% with a 2 year commitment to Easten Health.
