Job Description
American Iron & Metal is a growth-oriented metal recycling and processing company located in Hamilton, Ontario. We are currently recruiting for a Dispatch Supervisor with experience for our Hamilton location.
Overview
Responsible to oversee the day to day operations of the transportation team, inclusive of dispatchers, driver supervisors and drivers.
The successful candidate will be responsible for working closely with both the logistics manager as well as sales to ensure that material shipments are coordinated as efficiently as possible in and out of the American Iron & Metal Hamilton facility.
The individual will need to understand the daily pick up requirements of commercial accounts in the automotive and manufacturing sectors, service centers, demolition, etc.

The individual will set up and schedule weekend work requirements with dispatch to ensure service is maintained at a high level.
Understand the mill sales, delivery time-lines, contracts and schedules so dispatch can schedule trucks as effectively as possible.
Individual will be responsible for the ERP Payroll system (weekly hours for drivers)
Understand the ins and outs of transportation software and GPS Routing software and to create and understand efficiencies, proper runs, safety, and truck performance.
Work with sales and management on new account costings, designs and needs of the department.
Experience
Strong understanding of logistics
Management of a team
5 Plus years of dispatch experience or in a dispatch environment
Scrap metal knowledge and experience in the operation of roll-off and lugger trucks is an asset
Competent on Microsoft Office and transportation dispatch software
Knowledge of MTO Rules and Regulations
