ABOUT SECOND MILE CLUB
Second Mile Club is a not for profit agency that is a division of The Kensington Health Centre. Second Mile Club provides community support services such as Adult Day Program, Congregate Dining, Friendly Visiting, Client Intervention Assistance, Home Help, Medical Escort and Care Giver Support.
The Caregiver Support Program supports caregivers from all over the city of Toronto and works with them to support their health and well-
being as they care for loved ones.
Second Mile Club’s mission is to provide resources and services to enhance the social, intellectual, emotional and physical well-
being of a multicultural community of older adults and adults living with physical disabilities in Toronto and those who care for them.
TITLE : Yoga Instructor
PURPOSE : To provide family caregivers with agentle yoga program to promote overall well-being and health. Assisting them to enhance their resilience in their caregiving role.
RESPONSIBILITIES : Provide Yoga Instruction
Provide Yoga Instruction
Provide a one hour class bi-weekly
Report any changes or concerns to supervisor
Follows policies and procedures
Log hours with supervisor accurately
Sociable and friendly, comfortable with a diverse population
Effective communication skills
Patient and understanding
Complete all mandatory documentation
Complete all mandatory Volunteer Orientation Sessions
Additional language skills are an asset but not a requirement
Completion of Second Mile Club Orientation and Training
Must possess Yoga certificate
SCREENING, ORIENTATION, & TRAINING REQUIRMENTS
1.Have a brief interview to determine eligibility for this volunteer position.
2.Complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Reference Check.
3. Two (2) professional references
5. Attend a volunteer orientation, complete online training, complete addition training as required, sign off on our confidentiality agreement and orientation checklist, etc.
LOCATION : 25 Brunswick Ave, Toronto, Ontario, M5S 2L9
TIME & DAY :
Any start time between 11am -1pm on alternating Thursdays
COMMITMENT : biweekly
1 year is the minimum commitment required (References only given after 6 months of consecutive service)
Regular in-service sessions
Annual Volunteer Appreciation event
Volunteers will be reimbursed for TTC tokens
