In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university, with acceptable specialization in physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, environmental science, engineering or another science related to the position tasks.
Experience working in physical oceanography or other relevant environmental science.
Experience in using computer programming languages, such as, but not limited to, Java, Python, Fortran, Matlab, or R for scientific data management or scientific data analysis
Experience in analyzing scientific information for the development of reports, maps or other specialized presentations of data
Experience in scientific data management and query programming for the storage, analysis or access of scientific data.
The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)
Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of physical oceanography.
Knowledge of methods and procedures for processing of oceanographic data
Knowledge of the basic principles and methods of statistical analysis applicable to oceanography
Knowledge of oceanographic instrumentation.
Effective Interpersonal Skills
The following may be applied / assessed at a later date (may be needed for the job)
Graduation with a Masters or Doctoral Degree from a recognized university, with acceptable specialization in physics, mathematics, engineering or some other science relevant to the position.
Experience in the operation of oceanographic instrumentation packages and computer-based data control systems as used aboard modern research vessels on missions for oceanographic data collection.
Experience in quality control and processing of oceanographic, meteorological, or other environmental data.
Experience in time series and spectral analysis of oceanographic data
Experience in scientific software development, computer programming, testing and debugging in support of data management
Experience in scientific data management, database design and access of scientific data types
Experience in the development and deployment of scientific data products for distribution to the public.
Experience on an oceanographic research expedition
