In this role you will be responsible for managing the Equipment Services Program in the Atlantic region, including the maintenance and calibration of equipment involved in manufacturing of Canadian Blood Services products and the test tools used to verify manufacturing equipment.

You will also be responsible for the management of equipment services staff at the assigned sites and assist equipment owners in effectively and proactively managing the equipment life cycle for CBS assets.

Responsibilities include :

  • Supervises Equipment Services staff in Dartmouth and St. John’s locations.
  • Ensure staff perform duties in an effective, efficient and professional manner.
  • Reviews and manages equipment executed maintenance on all ES maintained equipment in the Atlantic region.
  • Manages test equipment inventory at the identified sites.
  • Works within the established operating & capital budgets for your responsible areas.
  • Maintains effective communication on all levels.
  • Assist in the implementation / verification of Equipment Services and other divisions projects / initiatives related to operational equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Required Skills

    Education, Training, and Experience :

  • Post secondary level education in a relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of successful experience in the design, manufacturing or maintenance of blood collection testing or manufacturing equipment in a regulated environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in the management of equipment maintenance in a highly regulated environment such as hospitals, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and testing or research laboratories is strongly preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma or black belt experience would be an asset.
  • Biomedical experience would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills and ability to influence people.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent personal and time management ability.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making ability.
  • Skilled use of computer programs including data bases.
  • Strong customer services orientation.
  • Occasional travel is required.
