Job Summary :

The Payroll Clerk will analyze records rejected from the time entry system, correcting known errors, identifying and correcting new errors, and notifying timekeepers of changes to input or processes.

The payroll clerk performs payroll accounting duties in the accumulating, recording, and processing of data for payroll such as time and / or earning adjustments (for current or prior periods, manual payments, accrual bank payouts or adjustments, cancelled payments, WCB net pay calculations, and EI records of Employment according to established standards, policies, and procedures.

This position is required to use a personal computer and a variety of software programs at an intermediate level.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Process, check, and approve payroll
  • Oversee all leave form requests
  • Review timesheets and overtime forms
  • Maintain staff records for vacations, holidays, absences and time banks according to the labor standards
  • Maintain records of employees (recognition of years of service)
  • Issue and oversee Records of Employment in accordance with Service Canada standards and HR indications
  • Produce various reports and compile statistical reports, statements and summaries regarding compensation and benefits
  • Act as a point of contact for requests for information relating to its payroll functions
  • Collaborate on the continuous improvement of the payroll service and contribute to the implementation of a more efficient working method
  • All other related tasks, including updating of various files (insurance, HR, salary increase file, probation, absence, swing of previous vacations, cellular collection, list of holidays, training, training expense reimbursement agreement, etc.)
  • Qualifications :

  • 3+ years Payroll processing (experience with ADP required)
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Great Plains and Salesforce experience would be an asset
  • Must have knowledge of payroll related legislative requirements (ie. Labour Standards Code)
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • A strong work ethic and a positive attitude
  • Great work ethics and self-motivated
  • Salary : Commensurate with experience and qualifications

    Security Clearance : Security Clearance may be required for this position.

    Working Hours : Full-Time, Monday through Friday; 8 : 00am - 5 : 00pm. Shift and weekend work may be necessary.
