Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for the direct supervision and management of staff and volunteers in the membership sales & service area to ensure sales targets and YMCA service standards are met or exceeded.
  • Development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative member services aimed at enhancing each and every member’s YMCA experience;
  • Be a contributing member of the branch leadership team with the Strong Kid’s campaign and other initiatives where appropriate
  • Take initiative and implement and monitor annual sales processes, retention initiatives and other member involvement initiatives
  • Responsible for the effective development and improvement of operating efficiencies of the membership operation through careful budget development and financial control
  • Responsible for the development, scheduling and delivery of Health and Wellness, Group Fitness programs and member engagement activities
  • Recruitment, training, and mentoring of all staff and volunteer team members for the purpose of delivering excellence in customer service through Health and Wellness programs and services
  • Development and maintenance of the Health and Wellness budget
  • Maintenance of current status of all required qualifications and certifications for self and Health and Wellness team members using internal and / or central data tools
  • Works as an active member of the Branch Leadership Team with scheduled Team Leader shifts / responsibilities
  • Provide direct leadership in programs modeling / mentoring service excellence
  • Supports and assists in the delivery of branch initiatives including Member and Volunteer Recognition and the Strong Kids Campaign.
  • Ensures that program policies and procedures are implemented and monitored proactively
  • Qualifications & Experience :

  • 3 years experience in a supervisory role
  • Post-Secondary Degree / Diploma in Physical Education, Recreation and / or Business and Marketing an asset
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Previous experience in customer service; flexible and well organized
  • Computer knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office and email / internet applications
  • Class knowledge and Database management is an asset
  • Must provide a current criminal record check as per the Association’s policy
  • YMCA Fitness Leadership Certification with specialization in Aquafit and Group Fitness with the ability to teach step / cyclefit / core and other group classes
  • 2 years post secondary education in Physical and Health Education or a related field, or 2 years related experience
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Personal training certification is an asset
