The KAC also administers key funding programs, the City of Kingston Arts Fund (CKAF) and the Nan Yeomans Grant for Artistic Development.

    Job Description :

    The Kingston Arts Council is seeking an Administrative Coordinator. This position would work directly with the Administrative and Communications Officer to support all administrative duties and research, develop and implement projects as identified through the Kingston Arts Council Strategic Plan.

    This position is made possible by Canada Summer Jobs and is full-time, designed for a student 15-30 years old returning to school full-

    time in the fall. The ideal candidate would have office and customer service experience, strong research and writing skills, and interest in administrative arts practices including community outreach, communications, and database entry.

    Knowledge of the Kingston arts scene is considered an asset.

    Key job responsibilities include :

  • Support development on specific initiatives and special projects, including creating work plans, critical paths, and budgets
  • Provide administrative support to the Executive Director, Administrative and Communications Officer, and Grants Coordinator, as needed
  • For various events, assist with booking venue rentals, outreach to artists, speakers, photographers, coordinate catering and other event logistics
  • Support in writing and disseminating communications materials
  • Conduct and synthesize research and develop reports to be presented to the Executive Director
  • Populate KAC’s Resource Library on the website and research new content to include
  • Contribute to KAC’s monthly e-newsletters, Arts in View and ArtsBuzz
  • Develop content for Instagram, Facebook and Twitter; reference KAC arts calendar for events and promote on social media
  • Support daily office administrative duties including filing, answering phones and responding to emails
  • Help the Administrative and Communications Officer in the coordination of UNIT 115, the KAC’s community arts space

  • Currently enrolled in Post Secondary studies, ideally Arts Administration or Management, Cultural Studies, Art History or Education
  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in the arts
  • Strong knowledge of Creative Suite Adobe and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent writing and communications skills
  • Professional demeanor
  • Ability to multi-task and follow projects from beginning to end
  • Ability to work in an open concept office
  • Knowledge of Sumac or other databases preferred
  • In accordance with the requirements set forth in the Canada Summer Jobs Summer Work Experience program, applicants must :

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • Have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and,
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
