Reporting to the Manager of Pharmacy, the Registered Pharmacy Technician is responsible for performing technical tasks related to drug distribution in the hospital.


  • Medication distribution to patient care areas, utilizing automated dispensing cabinets and central pharmacy automation.
  • Perform best possible medication history with patients to facilitate medication reconciliation.
  • Unit dose drug distribution including the preparation and delivery of IV medications.
  • Directing patient queries to areas accordingly.
  • Issuing and delivering narcotics / controlled drugs to the patient care areas.
  • Maintaining the department's drug inventory control system and maintaining appropriate records in keeping with pharmacy regulations and established procedures.
  • Assist Clinical Pharmacists as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Unit dose and IV admixture experience an asset.
  • Previous experience in a health care environment, preferred.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy automation is considered an asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Proven attendance record.
