The Opportunity :
The SQL Database Administrator is responsible for planning, designing, installing, migrating, monitoring, backing up and recovering data for the SQL server infrastructure.
This role is also responsible for designing, creating, validating, and deploying reports and analytical cubes from the business intelligent systems.
Key Accountabilities :
Be a thought leader on data infrastructure to drive business outcomes.
Maintain, install, administer, and update various SQL server instances.
Architect, maintain, and update SQL Reporting Services Reports (SSRS), SQL Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Analysis Services (SSAS).
Pioneer the emphasis on focusing on the voice of the customer’ and building a culture of user-centric thinking.
Support a culture of agile development, applying agile tools, principles, and mindset.
Research and develop new data integration and reporting technologies.
Monitor and optimize SQL server and database performance.
Pilot solutions adopted by the company and integrate them into the current environment.
Prioritize work according to company requirements of balancing self-directed project work and time sensitive end-user requests.
Provide data management support to development teams and provide support for on-demand data requests from user groups.
Administer, configure, and use tools for backing up and restoring databases to ensure business continuity.
Maintain database permissions ensuring a high level of system security.
Schedule and apply approved Windows and SQL security patches.
Work with business owners to plan, schedule and execute SQL Server upgrades and SQL based business application upgrades.
Monitor and maintain nightly data warehouse ETL packages.
Create documentation including architecture design, upgrade plans, database migration plans, test strategies.
Perform after hours support and system upgrades when necessary, ensuring critical systems / functions are operational.
Performs other duties as required.
What You Need To Be Successful In This Role :
Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
3-5 years of relevant working experience is required
Advanced technical knowledge of MS SQL Server (including SSRS, SSIS, SSDT / BIDS), and MS Visual Studio
VBA Excel programming and / or .NET experience is an asset
Experience with MS SQL SSAS environment is an asset
Experience with cloud technologies like Azure is an asset
