About the role
As a Claims Consultant in our Specialty Lines team , you will handle multi-line complex claims through all distribution channels.
You will be responsible for the direct handling and monitoring of complex first party and third-party claims with exposures in Canada and Internationally.
The types of losses may include Commercial Property, Energy, Equipment Breakdown, Environmental Liability and additional Specialty Claims.

Primary responsibilities :
Manage, Investigate, analyze, negotiate and resolve large and complex claims generally with exposures over $500K or involving specialized kind of loss;
Engage and manage external counsel, consultants, independent adjusters, accountants and engineers to confirm coverage, determine liability and assess damages;
Lead, supervise, guide and provide technical advise to regional file handlers to ensure consistent and effective claims handling;
Audit Regional Claims files and report to management on results;
Train colleagues on complex claims handling;
Work with Underwriting and Loss Prevention to identify potential risks, hazards and trends;
Provide brilliant customer service to Brokers, Customers, and Colleagues
Deliver and exceed on all key performance indicators as it relates to loss development and loss adjustment expenses, claims leakage control and expense management;
Leverage your expertise in a creative, continuous improvement environment to support a model of best practice operations;
Effectively negotiate claims when appropriate;
Attend settlement conferences and trials.

10+ years experience with direct handling of large and complex property claims.
Appropriate knowledge of all relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the position
Undergraduate Degree or CIP designation (asset)
Flexible to travel as needed
