SupervisoryResponsibilities :

This position is located with the Goderich Mine located in Goderich, ON

Directly supervises 10 employees in the MaintenanceDepartment. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with theorganization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include : training; planning,assigning, and directing work; ensure work is completed on a safe and efficientmanner.

Summary :

Oversee the operation of Maintenance Department. Directs and coordinates activities of workersengaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, andequipment in a salt blending and packaging plant.

Responsibility is to ensure safe workpractices and procedures are followed as well as ensuring high productivity fromthis department.

Quality standards and safe work practices are to be followed. Effectivemaintenance scheduling and employee development.

Essential Dutiesand Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following : (Management reserves the right to add ormodify the duties and responsibilities at any time.)

  • Supervises, developsthe skills and directs / delegates activities of the maintenance crew.
  • Each tradesmanhas a wide range of skills and experience, effective supervision is vital tothe success of the maintenance plan, execution of critical plant repairs andultimately the reliability of the site.
  • Assesses ongoingmaintenance projects and job orders and determines work priorities
  • Ensures safeworking conditions and safe work procedures are understood and followed by crew
  • Communicatesequipment and job order status to appropriate people and departments
  • Understand,present and enforce policies regarding safe work practices, production methods,quality standards, and preventative maintenance.
  • Conduct monthlysafety meetings and weekly tool box talks
  • Troubleshootequipment problems throughout areas of responsibility, determine maintenanceneeds, schedule repairs and oversee progress of same.
  • Have input intodeveloping maintenance budget.
  • Evaluateproductivity and other performance measures of employees and recommend possibleimprovements to work processes.
  • To foster anenvironment of continuous improvement, complete projects that will strengthenthe business.
  • Optimize thepreventive maintenance program
  • Work withoperators and Packaging Supervisors to make equipment modifications and toschedule equipment downtime for PM’s.
  • Audit the Pm’sand repairs to ensure it meets maintenance standards and expectations holdingthe tradesmen responsible for their performance

    Education andExperience :

    Engineering Degree (4yr), or equivalent work experienceand an Associate’s Degree (including technical training in industrialelectricity and prior supervisory experience).

    Direct work experience maintaining industrial equipment, conveyors &packaging machines & equipment, piping, hydraulic systems, and othermiscellaneous equipment.

    Knowledge ofwelding procedures & fabrication techniques is a plus.

    Computer Skills :

    Will be required to interface with a maintenancemanagement software system.Competence in Excel and Word. Ability to learn new software programs. CAD would be a plus.
