Our client creates some of Toronto’s most innovative and distinctive urban developments and they are currently seeking a Managing Director, Capital Markets and Investor Relations.
This role will oversee fundraising efforts and investor relations as well as develop and execute new initiatives and manage communication and relationships outside of the firm.
From acquisition, financing, development management, construction and project monitoring, our client is active across the full real estate spectrum.
Responsibilities Overseeing investor relations and fundraising efforts across all of the Firm’s platforms, including private funds and REITS
Leading all stages of the fund(s) sales cycle, from initial contact to overseeing due diligence processes and closing investment agreements
Leading the equity financing and closing of the various fund(s)
Developing and executing strategic initiatives, including fund structure(s)
Identifying high quality prospective investor, as well as developing proactive limited partner outreach program to further build and deepen relationships
Ensuring best-in-class engagement across the firm’s growing private and institutional limited partner investor base to communicate portfolio updates, strategies and respond to periodic and / or ad-hoc investor inquiries
Maintaining strong knowledge of industry and asset class trends and gathering market intelligence through investor interactions to identify market opportunities and determine effective new / ancillary product development initiatives
Assisting in the pricing, due diligence, acquisition and disposition of assets in the fund(s) and other operational aspects
Managing all investor events and ongoing communication, reporting and relationships with limited partners
Attending key conferences and / or events to promote the firm
Preparing investor marketing materials and representing the Firm at investor marketing events
Managing all external communication impacting the Firm (television and written press, uncover and report investor perceptions, write press releases and utilize other tools to communicate externally)
Managing relationships with the investment, legal, tax, reporting and senior management team
Qualifications Minimum of an undergraduate degree with a focus in Finance, Economics or related area; MBA considered an asset
Minimum 10 years of financial service experience, with a proven track record in private fundraising / institutional sales
Extensive knowledge of private and public fund management, equity and debt financing in real estate investment
Minimum 5 years at a senior management level and demonstration of leadership of a team and key stakeholder relationship building
Established and strong network of professional relationships within the private, family office and institutional investor segments, ideally on an international level
In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements for different investor groups and consequences for tailoring product offering
Team oriented, goal driven, with an entrepreneurial mindset and high ambition
