The position of the Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) is responsible for developing and achieving maximum profitable sales volume of Final Control products (control, relief valves, isolation & automated On / Off valves) sold by Lakeside Process Controls Ltd.
in an assigned territory. The territory is the entire province of Manitoba. The TSS must prospect and develop new customers while also supporting existing customers.
Primary goal being to drive market awareness and to drive Lakeside as being the Main Valve Partner for customers in Manitoba.
Secondary goal will be to have awareness of the entire Emerson product line (Measurement and Process Automation) to flush out opportunities during onsite visits and pass those opportunities to the Lakeside Team.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to :
Develop and maintain relationships with customers in various functional departments, such as : engineering, maintenance, reliability, operations and procurement.
Develop and implement strategies at key accounts to promote partnering. Take full responsibility for management of designated accounts, including recommendations for both short and long term strategies. (i.e. Account Plans)
Determine sales call frequency for all assigned customers and make personal sales calls.
Train customer personnel in the use of and advantages inherent in products, services and solutions offered by Lakeside Process Controls Ltd.
Promote all new products and product improvements.
Lead marketing events to drive market awareness (e.g. lunch & learns, trade shows)
Make recommendations to customers as to which products to use on specific applications. This includes optimum balance between product technical details, cost and customer process requirements.
Develop Differentiation and Value Selling Skills
Develop Quantified Business Results for customers
Collaborate with Sales Team (Sales Manager, Account Managers, other TSSs, Inside Sales, Service resources) to develop and implement strategies with Sales Manager
Provide direction to inside sales staff with respect to structure and content of quotations.
Gain and maintain detailed knowledge of competitors’ offerings and sales organizations.
Keep abreast of and advise competitive market information such as new products, pricing strategies and market directions
Entertain customer personnel to strengthen relationships.
Provide a leadership role, internally and externally
Promote a team approach within Lakeside.
Provide a premier level of customer service.
Handle all customer complaints immediately.
Respond immediately to warranty claims and make recommendations for resolution.
Assist accounting in the collection overdue accounts.
Prepare a yearly forecast of sales volume for assigned territory and make recommendations for increasing sales and profit.
Participate in trade shows.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED
Account management concepts
Knowledge of process control equipment
Knowledge of instrumentation products
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience with the following are not required but would be considered an asset : Knowledge of process control equipmentKnowledge of instrumentation products
University degree in Engineering or College Degree in Industrial Automation
5-7 years’ experience in a sales related role with proven success
5-7 years’ of experience in technical sales with an understanding of process control equipment. Knowledge of final control / mechanical equipment will be an asset.
