Application Support & Test Analyst
Ensure our Public Health Information System runs optimally, so we can keep the public informed about health issues.
In this role, you will :
Develop and run a wide variety of test cases and test scripts.
Collaborate with the Clinical Information Solutions (CIS) team to efficiently plan and execute unit, integrated and end-to-end system testing.
Advise on existing test processes, document issues and report on testing progress.
Trouble-shoot the application, participate in upgrade and patch coordination, and document defects and feedback.
Develop test cases and test scripts from project requirements, business requirements, design documentation, workflow processes, test plans and release notes.
Execute and / or coordinate testing, including unit testing, system integration testing, regression testing, end-to-end testing and user acceptance testing.
Provide feedback and revision on existing testing.
Coordinate with source systems to facilitate the development of QA data for testing. Use QA data to conduct feasibility studies by identifying problems, recommending modifications, testing solutions and reviewing the impact of implemented resolutions.
Provide input on communications bulletins and training materials to reflect findings of testing and promote optimal application use.
Document test results, log and track defects and participate in bug reviews to identify priorities and remediation strategies.
Communicate issues to the CIS team and work with them and with the software vendor to resolve issues. Report on defects and problems.
Participate in the coordination of upgrades, patches and other maintenance. With the CIS team, prepare upgrade plans, collaborate on the development of communications about changes and assist team members.
Support advanced users by providing functional application orientation and training, coaching, trouble-shooting, correcting minor system faults, classifying issues and requests according to urgency and resolving or escalating problems.
Assist with business process redesign by providing feedback to the CIS team. Support current / future state analysis and data gathering, including flowcharts, data flow diagrams and spreadsheets using software such as MS Excel and MS Visio.
Ensure issues are documented and communicated to stakeholders.
You have :
Education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Health Information Science or a related field.
Three (3) years recent related experience in QA, testing, preferably in a health care setting.
Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
A thorough and logical approach to testing.
Accuracy and detail-orientation.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Experience producing test plans and test scripts.
Experience working closely with technical and business analysts.
Strong organizational and time management skills including the ability to multi-task.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Knowledge of SQL, UML, XML, Web Services, SnagIT (or similar), HTML, and MS Office Applications particularly MS Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
Familiarity with PHSA environment and exposure to Public Health Information systems development and projects is highly desirable.
Experience with SQL, Selenium (or similar), JMeter (or similar), Java and XPath is an asset.
