What is the opportunity?

Principal solution engineer is a technical expert that partners with the technology product and application owners to transform and implement technology solutions within application portfolio.

One of the primary focuses is to explore innovative concepts, build shared technology frameworks, utilities and services for Financial Crime and integrate it across wide range of services patterns including, DevOps, Big Data, Cloud and Legacy.

The solution engineer will provide technical how to that will impact and influence the successful outcome of the portfolio and overall adoption levels across various business lines.

This role must have expert level experience in software engineering prior to moving to the field of a big data. As a technical expert in the domain, this role will be responsible in the day-to-day implementation and dissemination of practical knowledge and expertise in transformation technologies.

What will you do?

  • Plays a key role in executing the mandate of the T&O Innovation department within RBC (e.g. Big Data, AI Machine Learning, Cloud)
  • Close collaboration across enterprise solution engineering team on product strategies that align with business pain points and utilizing innovative technology
  • A hands-on application design, coding, and deployment of medium and significant complexity solutions.
  • Acts as a SME / Trusted day-to-day advisor to development teams on application portfolio, SDLC and development design frameworks, components and services re-use
  • Responsible for development of solution engineering options recommendations for all relevant applications in line with the agreed strategy and roadmap.
  • Provides key inputs into future technology direction and areas associated stability, performance, and roadmap strategy and development initiatives for applications in the portfolio.
  • What do you need to succeed?

    Must-have

  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or related work experience
  • 10-15 year’s professional experience in bulling ground up applications, with at least 4+ yrs. in Big data technologies and 2+ years in AI.
  • Expert Software Engineering expertise in developing multithreaded application; security and inter-process integration
  • Expert knowledge in Big Data, architecture and engineering including : data storage and management, distributed processing, data pipelines, data mining, analyses, visualization, data integration and high performance algorithms
  • Expert in Object Oriented, Service Oriented design and technical implementations
  • Proven ability to make design / enhancement recommendations / decisions for multiple applications / technologies
  • Nice-to-have

  • Big Data certification
  • TOGAF certification
