Job Description

We are looking for a Principal to join the Portfolio Value Creation (PVC) team, during an exciting period of transformative change and growth.

PVC partners with global Investment Groups across a portfolio of c. 80 assets and works out of offices in Toronto, London, Hong Kong and San Francisco.

PVC consists of c. 35 experienced professionals with investment, consulting and corporate backgrounds, operating across the portfolio and throughout asset lifecycles.

Reporting to the Managing Director, Head of Portfolio Value Creation, you will play a lead role working with portfolio companies to identify and implement transformative, value creation opportunities.

Working with the management team, senior stakeholders, deal teams and other members of the Portfolio Value Creation team, you will support world-class asset management of the portfolio and will identify, scope, and ensure implementation of value creation opportunities across the entire asset life-cycle.

  • You are a proven decision-maker who takes an enterprise perspective when evaluating opportunities. As a highly effective communicator who can lead complex committee and board discussions, you will build a relationship of trust with internal and external key partners and stakeholders at a C-suite / Board level;
  • and lead and inspire others across the PVC group and broader organization. You are a strong collaborator with demonstrated experience across levels, sectors and geographies and are viewed as an impactful team member with experience in mentoring and developing talent, both as an active manager and a role model.

    You also have an entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for building businesses.

    You will :

  • Identify strategic value creation opportunities across CPP Investments’ portfolio;
  • Guide implementation of value creation opportunities;
  • Oversee specific value creation projects as required;
  • Work with senior leaders across CPP Investments to meet strategic objectives;
  • Diligence new deal opportunities;
  • Support transition of new assets into CPP Investments’ portfolio (Day 1 transition, day planning, governance setup, value creation plan development, etc.);
  • Support monitoring of selected CPP Investments direct investment assets;
  • Interact with Senior Stakeholders, both internal and external, where appropriate;
  • Work internationally, including regular travel to other offices.
  • You will bring :

  • Extensive relevant Private Equity, Operational, and / or Management Consulting experience
  • Deeper expertise in one or more strategic focus areas for PVC including buy not limited to Digital, Procurement, Management compensation, Governance)
  • Experience of being a lead decision-maker
  • Experience working in deal environments including leading acquisitions, diligence and / or asset management activities
  • Proven ability to drive business results
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with significant C-suite exposure
  • Strong analytical skills and business judgement
  • Conduct consistent with our Guiding Principles of Integrity, Partnership and High Performance
  • Team player who enjoys a high performance culture
  • Master’s degree or equivalent degree
