Job Purpose

Deliver new POS functionalities. maintain, and support POS applications under the direction of a Project Manager.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop technical spec under the direction of a BSA / BA Lead
  • Assist BSA / BA in developing a functional specification
  • Develop POS (front and back office) software in C under the Microsoft SUA environment
  • Perform unit and integration test
  • Package and deploy POS software
  • Contribute to business requirements as needed
  • Test and implement software with a high degree of efficiency and accuracy
  • Follows Change Management process, and adherence to emergency change procedure.
  • Software implementation includes user acceptance signoff and proper turnover procedures.
  • Work with BSA / BA and PM to provide operational and user documentation and / or training as required
  • Stay current on new technologies; maintain professional development.
  • Perform all other IT related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

  • College diploma or university degree - Computer Science or computer programming equivalent diploma
  • 5 to 10 years software development experience in C, in a Unix environment (Microsoft SUA experience preferred).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Knowledge of Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) preferred.
  • Knowledge of Faircom CTree preferred
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Maintain / fix / support existing POS applications and develop new POS functionalities
  • Ability to use Outlook, and MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), and Visio to communicate and document.
  • Communicate effectively with the BSA / BA and understand the requirements to get the development work done
  • Experience with development tools, software development, and project life cycle
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must communicate effectively both orally and in writing is essential.
