    As a Maintenance Technician, you will provide skilled support in maintaining and repairing the physical plant and equipment required by our fast-paced, high-volume sheet metal manufacturing operation.

    WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)

    Perform scheduled preventative and unscheduled repair maintenance on plant equipment, including sheet metal presses and robotic equipment.

    Work utilizes skills in electrical, AC motor controls, process control, PLC trouble-shooting, mechanical and fluid power.

    Check drives, motors and belts, check fluid levels, replace parts or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.

    Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment. (50%)

    Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blue prints, repair manuals, part catalogs, as necessary.

    Assist in determining the options available, and / or parts needed to make necessary repairs to equipment. Inspect, operate or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions. (40%)

    Fabricate and maintain fixtures, tools, forms, etc., required in the production and testing of products. Assist in setting up production operations.

    Maintain records of maintenance work as required. (10%)

    DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    If you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too :

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Technical training related to the position preferred.
  • 2 years of manufacturing maintenance or similar experience.
  • Equipment maintenance : Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Critical thinking : Use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Quality control analysis : Conduct tests and inspections of products, services or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Mechanical : Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • Manual dexterity : The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm or your two hands to grasp, manipulate or assemble objects.
  • Deductive reasoning : The ability to apply general rules to specific problem to produce answers which make sense.
  • Equipment : Operate an industrial truck.
  • Operation monitoring : Watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Safety Prioritize safety consistently by demonstrating safe work practices and promoting a safe work environment.
  • Communication skills : Speak in the most effective way to relay information. Listen and ask questions to ensure understanding.
  • Self-management skills : Use time efficiently to complete tasks.
  • Ability to work independently : Follow both written and oral instructions, including safety guidelines, work instructions, and company policies.
  • Customer service skills : Solve customer problems quickly and effectively and maintain productive internal and external customer relationships.
  • Readily readjust priorities to respond to pressing and changing customer needs. Recognize potentially adverse customer reactions and develop better alternatives.

  • Quality standards knowledge : Demonstrate an understanding of quality standards and quality control processes.
