11 monthsParking Services Section requires an Engineering Technologist I to assist with the implementation and operation of the Bike Program : Some key responsibilities include :

  • Planning, citizen intake, repair, maintenance, evaluation and tracking for new bike parking requests on City of Edmonton Road Right of Way in accordance with established guidelines and procedures
  • Manage the current inventory of Bike racks for installation,replacement of existing bike racks due to maintenance or damaged conditions and tracking
  • Coordinate the transfer of the existing Bike Program to Parking Services
  • Prioritizes tasks based on urgency, proximity and direction from Parking Services Engineering Technician II and senior staff
  • Assesses impacts of changes to Bike rack locations and provides notification or direction to civic departments and / or outside agencies to notify affected citizens, businesses and community leagues through direct or written notification
  • Create PM notifications and work orders through SAP for Bike program control measures and ensure work is completed
  • Additional duties as required
  • Qualifications

  • Completion of a 2 year technical diploma in the Civil, Geomatics, Construction, or Transportation Engineering program from a recognized institution
  • Eligible to be recognized as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) with ASET
  • 2 years related engineering technologist experience in permanent and temporary traffic control design and placement or parking design and placement
  • Knowledge of TAC design guidelines
  • Training in Microstation, SAP, GEA, Guidsign, Autoturn, Google Applications Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to perform with minimal supervision and can make sound decisions
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • High interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team and independently
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
  • Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
