An Employee-owned company, Canadian company, Associated Engineering provides a broad base of consulting engineering services in the water, environmental, infrastructure, transportation, building, energy and asset management sectors.

We currently have an opening for a Junior Transportation Engineer in our Calgary office.

You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and develop your skills in many areas such as road design, drafting, traffic engineering, planning, construction inspection, and intelligent transportation systems.

You will also have the autonomy to complete tasks with minimal supervision.

You will work with engineers, technologists, and support staff to provide transportation engineering services for a variety of public and private sector clients with a focus on road design (mostly urban including roundabouts) and support other growth areas within transportation-related infrastructure including Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and asset management.

Job Requirements

What you will bring to the table :

  • Graduate of a university program, eligible to register as an EIT under APEGA, or graduate of a post secondary technical institution with demonstrated work experience in the duties identified
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient knowledge of MS office software applications such as Word and Excel
  • Committed team player
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think fast on your feet
  • Class 5 license and your own vehicle
  • Experience in roadway design using AutoCAD and Civil 3D is an asset
  • Experience with estimating and tender document preparation is an asset
  • Experience with road construction inspection and project administration is an asset
  • Knowledge of current technology for research, data gathering (open source), data analysis and dissemination for transportation network management or transit management is an asset
  • Experience with SYNCHRO or SharePoint is an asset.
  • It will be considered an asset for the candidate to have :

  • Site Inspection
  • Review and interpret design drawings and specifications
  • Identify and resolve conflicts with designers and contractors
  • Inspect ongoing work to ensure it is performed according to specifications, and a quality product is achieved
  • Review Requests for Information (RFI) submittals and communicate with designers to issue solutions in a timely manner
  • Collect and communicate field information and or conditions as required
  • Complete daily, weekly, and or monthly reports for work completed onsite
  • Complete document control of quality submittals and other items as required
  • Coordinate 3rd party and owner inspections as required
  • Understanding of Specifications
