Job Description

The Associate Vice President of Architecture and Global Data Office is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of designs and solutions for both the Global Data Platform and Group Functions Technology (GFT), for services across the group function portfolios.

For the group portfolio initiatives, programs and projects, this leader ensures business capabilities are designed with flexibility, efficiency, and will provide market leading capabilities for your internal partners based on the application roadmap dispositions.

In addition, the role is responsible for overseeing the success of data products brought to the data platform and provides guidance to group functions products in technical design and implementation.

This role plays a key technical leadership role in building and maintaining the design principles and approved technology patterns and by coaching mentoring those fulfilling an architectural role, data architects, data engineers, and advanced analytics developers and works in partnership with PMO and with their respective group segment peers in ensuring the correct development and technologies align with the technology strategy and application roadmaps.

Job responsibilities :

  • Working with the Group Function Technology leadership and partners, development and implementation of practical solutions for assigned GFT application portfolios
  • Build and maintain a Data Platform Roadmap that reflects our global technology strategy
  • Provide technology leadership, management and oversight of Data Architects, Data Engineers, and Machine Learning Engineers
  • Nurture a mentorship role for future Data Architects and leaders in Group Functions
  • Forward-looking thought leadership identifying emerging technology trends both internal and external and formulating value propositions for alignment of application development within and across the portfolios.
  • Point of contact for architecture and development technology-related matters initiated within assigned portfolios (e.g.
  • POCs, systemic production issues, assistance with architecture tools, requests for assistance from other technology organizations, inquiries concerning standards, guidelines, or standard methodologies, etc.)

  • Coordination point for externally initiated architecture and development technology-related matters related to assigned GFT portfolios (e.
  • g. infrastructure optimization activities, cross-portfolio information requests, tech mandatory activity support, etc.)

  • build and maintain engineering standards in accordance with agile architecture and software continuous delivery and Integrations.
  • Build and maintain operational dashboards
  • Enhance the quality and speed of code delivery including the automated pipelines.
  • Fixes mis-specified component architectures and rapidly corrects them
  • Qualifications : Technical Skills :

    Technical Skills :

  • Demonstrated 10-15 years professional experience in big data including a university degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent program or experience
  • Must have a git hub of development examples or contributions to open source repositories in either digital or data related initiatives.
  • Must have experience in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data platforms in cloud or on-premise
  • Can design both digital and data systems that can scale, including pipelines for digital or data integration systems. (API’s, Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, Splunk)
  • 5 yrs. experience in deploying enterprise SaaS modules for internal or direct-to-market clients
  • Must have shown the ability to deploy and maintain scalable cloud native IaaS, PaaS, and CaaS data applications
  • 5 yrs. Experience with Cloud providers products and services (AZURE, AWS, GCP)
  • Advanced analytical and project management skills (DevOps, Extreme Programming, Agile, and Waterfall) for a variety of tasks or projects.
  • Ability to take care of complex problems involving multiple facets, variables and situations where only limited standardization exists;
  • Understanding of systems, business, data, and technical architecture disciplines, including key methodologies and approaches as Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Business Process Management (BPM), data / information modeling, Microservices, Big Data, Machine Learning operations, containers, cloud-native services (Azure, AWS, GCP), traditional data centers and high-availability / high-performance systems design
  • Experience and capability in translating non-technical user requests into complex technical specifications and solutions that meet these requirements
  • An understanding of core applied Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
  • Consistent track record leading highly complex architecture initiatives with regular interactions and engagements with senior-level business and technology partners.
  • Practitioner / Expert level understanding of architecture and software development concepts, frameworks, models, methodologies and disciplines
  • Non-Technical Skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with ability to multi-task. Ability to work with minimal or no supervision;
  • has the ability and initiative to organize various functions necessary to accomplish department activities or goals and be a great teammate.

  • Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts into business & value-focused language.
  • Capable of reaching consensus across multiple team members and clients. Must be able to lead a cohesive business and technical approach to ensure solutions are evolutionary and do not compromise overall organizational efficiency and technical strategy.
