We are looking for a Manager, Established Advisor Development, to play an integral role with the Canada Life team.
Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations : Toronto, London.
In this fast-paced, results-driven environment, it’s go time for you as you partner with the top financial advisors to deliver leading edge development strategies for advisors to help drive their business performance.
You’ll also play an integral role in the growth of Canada Life’s Advisory Network.
Reporting to the Director, Advisor Development, you will be responsible for addressing the strategic needs of our Established Advisor audience through learning and development needs.
What you will do
Participate in planning and shaping the direction of Established Advisor learning & development for the organization
Partner with various business leaders to create and articulate the development roadmap for our Established Advisors, incorporating corporate priorities, knowledge gaps and internal initiatives
Deliver innovative solutions that contribute to the achievement of short and long-term organizational objectives; drive business plans that maximize learning, adoption and sales opportunities for Advisors
Develop and capture a depth of detail around the strategy and related initiatives to ensure tangible outcomes; level and length of engagement in the implementation phase will vary and will often run through the design and execution phases.
Deliverables could include :
Project plan design
Socializing plans and securing business support
Providing project oversight and assessment of results
Making go / no go recommendations for initiative roll-out
Collaborate with subject matter experts and business leaders to execute on the established advisor development strategy
Partner with initiative key stakeholders, subject matter experts and training consultants to ensure the training plan is comprehensive and developed considering initiative timelines
Manage Advisor initiatives and lead discussions around sequencing of initiatives to ensure the appropriate launch plan is carried out
Contribute to the build out and maintenance of metrics to measure the effectiveness of training plans, work with key stakeholders and training team to modify and track plans
What you will bring
Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in financial services industry, preferably experience working with or as a Financial Advisor to capitalize on identifying knowledge gaps, development opportunities and to advocate for Advisor needs during large scale corporate initiatives / launches.
Familiarity with distribution sales channels is an asset
Previous experience in curriculum development and familiarity with trends in technology-enhanced facilitation and learning, as well as online and blended learning
Experience in monitoring and reporting on implementation and delivery of training activities including formal evaluation mechanisms to measure and report on the effectiveness of development offerings
Excellent knowledge of insurance and investment products, advanced sales strategies, the financial services industry and applicable legislation.
University degree in Business, Communications, or Marketing. Certification in Adult Education would be an asset
Hold or working towards valid financial services designations, such as CFP, CLU, etc. would be considered an asset
Effectively and independently drives results, while working as a strong collaborative partner

Able to travel up to 30% of the time for onsite visits across the nation
Tech Savvy; proficient use of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
Demonstrated leadership, influencing, and relationship building skills
Experience collaborating across various departments to articulate and execute a strategy or strategic initiative, ideally building out virtual learning and curriculum design
Proven ability to ramp up quickly on new subjects
French bilingual is an asset
