Holy Spirit Catholic School is looking for an excellent Middle School Math Teacher who will teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Math and Algebra.
The right candidate will have a clear understanding of the middle school child and their social and emotional needs. There is an expectation of academic excellence in teaching as well as learning.
Collaborative learning, alternative seating and student-centered activities are encouraged, with a high level of behavioral expectations.
Every middle school teacher at Holy Spirit must be a team player and work as a unit to give a consistent and stable message to the students.
One of the responsibilities of a middle school teacher at Holy Spirit is developing the moral core of the student as they deepen their faith in God.
The Teacher fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by guiding, inspiring and educating students in a loving, Christ-centered environment.
The Teacher is responsible to the Principal for the carrying out of policies of the school and the Archdiocese of San Antonio as they relate to the function of the school, the classroom, and the immediate contact with students and parents.
This person will :
Supports and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
Support and adhere to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio, including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees
Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters
Direct and evaluate the learning experience of the student in both curricular and extracurricular activities
Provide guidance to student that promotes his or her welfare and Christian educational development; refer students with problems to those qualified to help
Carry out carefully constructed lesson plans and maintains documentation of instructional planning
Carry out the disciplinary policies of the school
Attend and participate in PTC, faculty and Archdiocesan meetings
Attend and participate in the scheduled number of In-Service days required by TCCBED and the Archdiocese
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other professionals
Demonstrate professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
Maintain a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school, students and staff
Keep records of attendance, checks home assignments, grades papers and complete report cards
Supervise extracurricular activities as assigned
Supervise arrival and dismissal of students and assist in the supervision of students as needed
Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church
Knowledge of curriculum, instructional methods / strategies, and curriculum differentiation
Knowledge of child development, learning and behavior
Able to manage student behavior
Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
Able to work well with others in a school community
Skills in handling multiple tasks simultaneously
Skills in job appropriate technology
Skills in critical thinking and planning
This teacher must have a Bachelor's degree and be Texas teacher certified
2-3 years experience teaching Math / Algebra in a middle school setting
