This position performs duties necessary to maintain a sanitary and safe environment for all clients / patients, staff and visitors of the hospital.


  • Washroom cleaning and servicing.
  • Clean Discharge Beds (includes Room set-up) and Stretchers as required.
  • Collect waste and recycling materials.
  • Clean all frequently touched surfaces, equipment, furniture and fixtures such as : telephones, table tops, charts, computer keyboards, hand / bed rails, light switches, door knobs, washroom fixtures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Completion of Grade 10 education or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Demonstrates ability to follow oral and written instructions and to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to perform such manual tasks as mopping and buffing floors, wall washing, changing cubicle and window drapes, moving furniture, vacuuming, cleaning and polishing.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills including the ability to handle multi tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to understand relevant information to make effective judgments and decisions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated excellent ability to work with a variety of individuals in a co-operative manner both independently and as part of a team with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
  • Ability to work and adapt in a fast paced environment.
  • Proven attendance record.
  • Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
