Job SummaryHOOPP is growing our Derivatives and Fixed Income department and we have added an External Managers program to the group.
The program will provide HOOPP with an attractive and diversifying return-to-risk profile that complements our internal trading program.
The mandate involves making long-term direct investments and investments on a managed account platform. You will have an opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of strategies and asset classes, including equities, credit, interest rates, currencies and commodities.
This mandate is an integral part of HOOPPs alpha platform and you will be able to leverage the expertise of the investment team within HOOPP, while reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Derivatives and Fixed Income.
Job Summary Roles and Responsibilities
Lead risk assessments of the external managers.
Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis and identify key drivers of risk.
Recommend investment strategies, negotiate terms in traditional and alternative external managers.
Develop a strategic risk-taking and portfolio construction framework to optimize the mandate within HOOPP.
Ensure individual manager performance is adherent to stated style and strategy.
Review the overall portfolio, evaluate return-to-risk targets and ensure alignment with HOOPP’s goals.
Stay abreast of investment, operational, legal, tax, and risk developments relating to external managers.
Develop and maintain relationships with team members and portfolio management groups, as well as external counterparties.

MBA with concentration in investments or finance is preferred.
CPA and CFA or other relevant investment-related designations (e.g. CAIA).
University education with a minimum post-graduate degree in finance, commerce, business, mathematics, science, engineering, accounting or other quantitative discipline.
Minimum 5 years’ work experience with strong knowledge of the hedge fund industry relating to hedge fund strategies, private assets, investment strategies, financial instruments, internal controls, risk management, portfolio construction, operational due diligence and investment regulations.
Available for travel for on-site reviews and industry events expected travel is approximately 5-10 trips per year.
Solid understanding of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Exceptional attention to detail with highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, and excellent English - written and verbal.
Strong time management, organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
