We require a temporary / hourly employee to replace our permanent System Administrator during vacation and emergency medical absences over the course of the year.

Total expected utilization on an annual basis is roughly 4-5 weeks, and ideally we would require the same individual to provide this support until the end of the contract term, mid-January, 2023.

The resource could possibly be called in for additional hours if workloads increase at peak times such as election events, and would receive approximately one week of on-the-job training this year.

The client is a Victoria-based organization that manages provincial election events, but remote support is an option if the ideal candidate is not Victoria-based.

This is a perfect opportunity for retirees or other individuals who would like to earn extra income over the next few years.

Working within strict timeframes to meet deadlines, this resource will be responsible for the following :

  • Providing infrastructure and security technical support to a maintenance and development team.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Patching system environments.
  • The role may also require the following :

    Developing and documenting technical service, configuration, authentication and access control processes and procedures, and the detailed design of implementation plans to ensure solutions are technically accurate and secure.

    Investigating and implementing complex IT integration challenges

    Troubleshooting, testing, and implementing software and hardware solutions.

    Applying IT security in design, development, implementation and operation stages of projects.

    Qualifications

    Mandatory Education / Skills / Experience :

    Degree, diploma, certification or equivalent in the computer science, related field or equivalent PLUS :

    3 Years' :

  • Infrastructure Support Managing infrastructure technology solutions across multiple platforms and a variety of systems environments, including configuration, installation and integration services.
  • Desktop, server and network hardware;
  • Windows and Unix operating systems;
  • Application development tools;
  • Client / server infrastructure software and hardware con-figurations
  • Security Administration Providing systems security and systems accounts administration related support for custom applications and custom configurations of commercial-off-the-shelf applications.
  • Firewalls;
  • Server / application access controls.
