Our financial client is looking for an Intermediate Database Administrator to manage the technical health and availability of all relational databases.


  • Assist business stakeholders in realizing their stated objectives through the use of data assets and information products that enable better and faster decisions.
  • Reviewing server and desktop pre-installation checklists to ensure it contains all requirements for infrastructure, operating systems and system user permission / access.
  • Configure database access engines for all data sources and validate access engine configurations.
  • Perform health-checks and monitoring post migration and identify any required remediation efforts.
  • Document all data sources and data requirements by User and / or Group based on object inventory.
  • Database failover strategy, including off-site storage, transactional replication and application release back-out plans.
  • Proactively monitor multiple databases and recommend & lead preventative maintenance activities (automate when applicable).
  • Provide production support of databases (Financial systems, BI environments and departmental software applications).
  • Assist in Technical and Software Application Projects.
  • Install and configuration of SQL & Oracle databases.
  • Database security, archival and data warehouse administration.
  • Contribute to the database architecture and physical design based on logical model and requirements.
  • Provide data access efficiency / optimization advice to Developers.
  • Project participation including centralization of database services, business intelligence initiatives and the implementation of software packages.
  • Must Haves

  • 5 + years’ experience as a Database Administrator using Microsoft SQL Server and / or Oracle database systems (SQL Server 2016 or later and Oracle 11g or later.)
  • Working knowledge of TFS or equivalent project management, development management tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and SQL expertise.
  • Experience supporting SAS and different database products
  • Working knowledge of Operating Systems including Windows and Unix / Linux.
  • Well versed in database technology and data warehouse design standards.
  • Experience with new solution installations / configurations, upgrades and hot fixes.
  • Nice to Haves

  • Data management and data quality knowledge an asset.
