The Commercial team is a dynamic, driven, fast-paced, and highly engaged group. Together, the team is responsible for delivering profitable growth within the Mid-Market and Enterprise B2B customer segments.

We are searching for a Director of Channel Strategy. In this role, you will lead our team responsible for defining and optimizing our channel strategy to drive profitable growth in the Commercial segment.

The successful candidate will lead teams responsible for overseeing sales targeting, cross-channel governance, compensation strategy, channel expansion & productivity as well as sales reporting automation and analytics.

They will utilize their masterful stakeholder management skills as well as analytical and technical skills to partner with a broad stakeholder group across marketing and sales teams.

Reporting to the General Manager - Commercial Marketing, the candidate will lead managers and individual contributors, providing guidance, coaching and development to the team towards achieving their professional and personal objectives.

With a broad set of responsibilities and a high degree of visibility across the TELUS Business organization, the Director of Channel Strategy will have the opportunity to :

  • Flex communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, working with a broad set of stakeholders and executives
  • Mentor, lead, and support a diverse, national, and talented team
  • Lead the annual sales targeting process where targets are connected to budget as well as sales capacity and productivity considerations
  • Lead cross-channel governance forums to support performance growth
  • Drive sales reporting and automation enhancements to enable sales performance management
  • Develop sales compensation strategy in partnership with People & Culture, Finance and sales leaders to ensure alignment with business strategy, budget and productivity expectations
  • Develop businesses cases and financial models for channel investments / divestments and present to Finance and executive leadership for signoff
  • Measure and analyze sales productivity and present recommendations to optimize sales ROI and improve sales effectiveness
  • Qualifications

  • You have an impressive people leadership track record with proven ability to recruit, coach, mentor and lead high performing teams in a fast-paced environment
  • You have strong analytical skills and a keen interest in improving sales performance through prior experience in marketing, channel management, finance or strategy consulting
  • You are resilient and adept at challenging the status quo by constantly observing, being curious and asking questions
  • You are a skilled relationship builder and skilled at prioritization, negotiation and influencing
  • You have demonstrated the ability to successfully deliver complex projects involving people, process, technology, and change management
  • You can pivot between supporting the urgent needs of the business and the long-term roadmap
  • Great-to-haves :

  • Business or technical educational background (computer science, engineering)
  • 8+ years of progressive and relevant work experience in marketing, channel management, finance, or strategy consulting
  • Prior telecommunications expertise
  • B2B experience would be an asset
