Food Service Supervisor (Full-Time) - Southlake Residential Care Village

Organization Background :

Candidates are invited to apply for the above position to work at Southlake Residential Care Village a 224-bed long-term care facility, located in Newmarket, Ontario.

Position Summary :

Southlake Residential Care Village invites all detail-orientated, self-organized individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, challenging role to apply for this opportunity within our dietary department, supporting both our Long-Term Care and Community business units.

The FSS provides dietetic services for residents within legislative and budgetary parameters


  • Completes dietary profiles for each resident using MDS RAI.
  • Completes all low and moderate quarterly MDS and nutrition screening, communicates regularly with Registered Dietitain and interdisciplinary team
  • Completes and attends care conferences for all residents
  • Completes diet changes as outlined by homes Registered Dietitain
  • Completes monthly CQI audits as outlined by the dietary CQI schedule
  • Maintains records in accordance with policies, procedures, and MOHLTC legislative requirements
  • Acts as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team, acts as a representative for Extendicare, through participation in regional and professional activities as appropriate
  • Participates on committees related to resident care, facility operation and Quality indicators as required
  • Supervises and motivates dietary staff; ensures dietary staff works as a team, ensures high level of productivity and best use of staff capabilities
  • Ensures environment of all food preparation and storage areas meets Public health requirements
  • Covers Dietary Manager when away (duties to include ordering, staffing)

  • Current Membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management required
  • Post Secondary Diploma in Food Nutrition Management / equivalent required
  • Minimum 1-2 years Food Service Supervisory experience in a LTC environment as asset
  • Proficiency with computer applications Microsoft Office
  • Experience with PointClickCare required
  • Excellent organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential
  • Customer-focused attitude, with demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective team relationships with staff and residents
