Amgen is a leading global biotechnology company, with a mission to serve patients around the world. As a science-based, patient-
focused organization, we discover and develop innovative therapies to treat serious illnesses. Our medicines have made a dramatic difference in the lives of millions.
Amgen British Columbia, located in Metro Vancouver, Canada, is a research center of excellence focused primarily on the use of XenoMouse® technology for the discovery of fully human therapeutic monoclonal antibodies.
This team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced researcher to help us advance our therapeutic antibody discovery efforts.
The successful candidate will complement an innovative group with a strong track record in pioneering novel antibody-based therapeutics.
The role will be primarily laboratory-based and focused on supporting diverse therapeutic discovery programs across our portfolio.
This will require the development of new ideas, techniques and strategies to help identify lead antibody candidates that meet extreme functional design goals.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated competency in antibody discovery or characterization. Experience with hybridoma generation and screening, single B cell isolation and display technologies (phage, yeast or mammalian) are an asset as are strengths in protein biochemistry, molecular biology and cell biology.
As this position will bridge a number of our functional areas, it will require flexibility and an ability to think creatively to solve challenging problems.
The incumbent scientist working in this role will have the potential to impact selection of lead therapeutic candidates and to conduct novel research projects.

Hands-on involvement with one or more antibody discovery technologies (e.g. hybridoma, phage display, B cell recovery (SLAM), nanoscale screening, gel microdrop, NGS, etc.)
A demonstrated ability to develop assays to support antibody or large molecule screening
Knowledge of cellular purification and characterization techniques
Familiarity with next generation antibody screening platforms (ie. nanoscale and single-cell)
Experience working in an environment requiring strong inter-personal and communication skills across a broad range of audiences (including senior scientific and business leaders)
