As the Information Company, our mission at OpenText is to create software solutions and deliver services that redefine the future of digital.

Be part of a winning team that leads the way in Enterprise Information Management.

The opportunity :

Design, develop and execute software performance and scalability tests for OpenText products. A qualified candidate can analyze the results of these tests, offer diagnosis of bottlenecks, and optimize the design and deployment of web based software applications.

Tests will reflect realistic usage profiles, concurrent load and large data volumes expected in production deployments as well as stress tests that push the limits of the product’s capabilities on a variety of platforms and infrastructures.

Knowledge and application of performance assessment methodologies are needed to establish scalability characteristics, trend analysis, edge case handling, endurance tests, end-to-end responsiveness, and efficiency in design.

Once measurements and baselines are taken you will analyze slow operations and tolerances. Statistical analysis of resource usage and response should establish a profile of performance, and diagnostics to offer a fine granularity of timings, building up a code profile of where time is spent to guide optimization.

Communication skills are essential to author findings reports and work with fellow engineers to share an understanding of issues and causes found, propose mitigation approaches, architectural enhancements, or configuration best practices to optimize product performance.

Ability to guide and mentor junior performance analysts.

In addition to the actual testing and analysis, the person in this role will setup, configure and tune the performance lab equipment and infrastructure software supporting these tests.

You are great at :

  • Must have working system admin level experience with the full web application technology stack, from web servers to the Java or JS application tier, relational database server to operating system;
  • knowing how to configure, tune and troubleshoot all tiers

  • Must have performance load testing experience with web applications (designing and scripting with tools like SilkPerformer, LoadRunner, JMeter, analyzing load test results, resource monitoring and interpretation skills, and diagnosing exposed bottlenecks)
  • Must have ability to consult on and troubleshoot difficult scalability bottlenecks
  • Must have ability to mentor and provide technical leadership
  • Database and SQL tuning experience required (Oracle, SQL Server, Postges)
  • Desirable code profiling experience (eg JProfiler, VTune, etc)
  • Desirable Docker container use, monitoring and tuning in Kubernetes or Cloud Foundry runtime environments
  • Nice to have ability to apply statistical methods to promote understanding of load results and scaling, and model realistic response tolerance
  • Nice to have development experience (eg Java, JavaScript, Ruby, SQL, C++ / C#)
  • Nice to have - experience with any Open Text products or similar
  • What it takes :

  • 8+ years of software performance analysis and load testing experience
  • Computer science, mathematics, or engineering degree or diploma, or equivalent experience working in technical roles in the software development industry
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills in English is vital
  • Highly organized
