As a Certified Orthotist at the Hospital for Sick Children, you will be responsible for the assessment, measurement, modification and fitting of orthotic devices for children with a number of orthopedic conditions.
The Orthotist will work in close collaboration with the interprofessional practice team and the Rehabilitation Professionals.
Here’s What You’ll Get To Do
Perform a comprehensive assessment of children who have musculo-skeletal, neurological and / or gross motor impairments (referral guidelines available)
Develop an orthotic care plan in collaboration with the child / family and the health care team
Identify and alert members of the medical team to changes in medical status of the patient
Identify impairments and refer to other medical specialties when necessary
Identify orthotic research opportunities
Participate in program and departmental education
Here’s What You’ll Need
Orthotist certification in good standing with the Canadian Board of Certification of Prosthetics and Orthotics (CBCPO) and eligibility for ADP authorizer status
Credentials must be in accordance with Ontario legislation
Must have graduated from an accredited College in Prosthetics and Orthotics.
Must be certified through OPC to practice in Canada.
