Saskatchewan Ministry of Trade and Export Development is looking for an experienced, highly-motivated and skilled communicator to join our Communications team as a Communications Consultant.

Additionally, you will provide communications services to the Ministries of Energy and Resources and Immigration and Career Training through a shared services agreement.

  • In this position, you will provide strategic communications advice to senior ministry officials; develop and implement communications / issues management strategies that build support for and awareness of the ministry's policies, programs and services;
  • and lead a range of communications initiatives. The position also contributes to internal communications work and supports ministry colleagues in fostering great culture.

  • The successful candidate will have the ability to develop, implement and evaluate communications strategies and plans that support the ministry's strategic goals;
  • verbally and in writing communicate information to a variety of audiences to build support, educate, and promote understanding of the ministry and its programs and services;
  • research, write and edit a variety of communications materials including communications strategies, news releases, speeches and publications;
  • organize and prioritize a high volume of projects with competing deadlines to consistently produce high-quality work; and develop and maintain positive relationships with ministry staff, clients and stakeholders.

    Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position would have been gained through a post-secondary education in communications or public relations.

    A combination of education in a comparable field and experience may also be considered. Professional accreditation or certification (IABC, CPRS) is an asset.

    Skills and experience related to graphic design / desktop publishing will also be considered an asset. A demonstrated knowledge of government practices and protocol, and knowledge of the ministries' program areas will also be considered an asset.
