The successful candidate is responsible for the following :
Building and developing relationships within the assigned client group being supported and throughout the Company to build on Arbor’s culture and employee experience.
Providing advice and guidance to managers and supervisors within designated client groups and other employee groups as required.
Providing advice and recommendations to managers on the performance management process, progressive discipline approach and strategy, performance improvement plans, performance evaluation program and offboarding process.
Investigates and manages employment law matters as required.
Assisting with the development of the HR Metrics reports on a quarterly basis.
Managing claims received from regulatory bodies to ensure legislative compliance, including Employment Standards, Ministry of Labour, Human Rights Commission, and provincial Health and Safety agencies.
Managing the investigation process in its entirety which includes conducting workplace investigations, completing the report and making recommendations to management based on the findings.
Identifies, creates and delivers client-based HR training programs and presentations in collaboration with the HR team, Arbor’s Centres of Excellence and third party vendors.
Maintains the programs and various training materials and makes recommendations for improvements as required.
Providing full-cycle recruitment and selection support to Home Office by working with hiring managers and ensuring legislative compliance throughout the process.
Advises and supports the HR Administrator on administering the Company’s National Job Posting Program. Provides advice, guidance and assistance to managers on talent management.
Supports, develops and implements health and safety programs for designated client groups, in conjunction with the other Human Resources Business Partners and Disability and Benefits Specialists, including loss prevention programs, researching legislation, distributing information, acting as a liaison with employees and government agencies and conducting annual audits of the programs.
Assisting the Benefits and Disability Specialists with active claims through Sun Life and Chubb Insurance. Makes recommendations for enhancements to the disability management program and future training based on identified trends.
Ensures adherence to Company policies and procedures by providing gu idance and advice to managers and employees in designated client groups and other employee groups as required.
Developing and delivering in person and virtual orientation programs for all Home Office Arbor employees and organizing the annual funeral home and property tour for new home office employees twice a year in collaboration with the HR Administrator.
Conducts research and monitors changes to employment legislation and identifies requirements for changes in Company policies and practices.
Assists managers in defining job specifications for all positions; reviews job descriptions and ensures that job descriptions are up to date.
Under the direction of the Vice President, Human Resources and Director, Payroll and Compensation, provides advice and guidance to managers on new employee salaries and promotions ensuring salary guidelines are adhered to.
Assists with and the development and implementation of HR projects to support Arbor’s strategic objective to implement best-in-class talent pursuit, engagement and retention strategies.
Delivers and presents on HR programs and initiatives.
Partners with members of the Human Resources team on various issues and projects.
Performs other duties, as required.
Our ideal candidate will have the following :
Completion of a College diploma or University degree specializing in Business or Human Resource Management and possessing the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRL) designation is preferred.
3-5 years of Human Resources experience with a focus in the areas of employee relations, training and development, health and safety and legislative issues.
Strong general knowledge of Human Resources practices and principles with excellent judgment and consulting skills.
Excellent knowledge of provincial employment legislation (Employment Standards Acts, Human Rights legislation and Occupational Health and Safety Acts).
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Superior interpersonal, influencing and communication skills including the ability to write communication material and deliver oral presentations.
Ability to interpret collective agreements, resolve grievances and manage employer / union relationships.
Ability to partner with all levels of management in a sensitive, tactful, diplomatic, and professional manner at all times.
Experience conducting workplace investigations and resolving workplace conflicts while exercising confidentiality throughout the process.
Proven ability to develop effective relationships and gain credibility across all levels of the organization.
Superior organization, time management and problem solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Computer aptitude including good knowledge of Office 365 including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong knowledge of various Human Resources systems and programs including HRIS, ATS and employee engagement platforms.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Ability to work seamlessly and in partnership with all HR team members.
