Information and Communication Technology . The incumbent provides advice and guidance to the entire Sheridan community, corporate clients, and other educational institutions specific to architecting, planning, enhancing, redesigning, securing and administering network infrastructure that support academic and administrative users at all Sheridan campuses.
In addition, this position is responsible for analyzing and optimizing system performance, scalability and stability, recommending ways of reducing operating costs and recommending solutions in response to changing Sheridan requirements.
Specific Responsibilities Include : Actively participates in the designs, implementation and support of multi-platform wired, wireless, inter-
campus network links, and Internet environments, and for adaptation and development testing of new technologies, software, hardware, and systems.
Must have a good knowledge of current programming languages such as Perl, Python, HTML, XML, TCL, Expect, UNIX shell scripting, etc.
The incumbent must possess good oral, written and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with technical and non-
technical management, staff, faculty, students, external clients or vendors. Demonstrated project management skills to participate in projects involving other network support members, or other IT and non-
IT technical groups. The incumbent is required to have an in-depth overall understanding of how many different types of hardware or software components work and how they interact with each other in order to plan and design complex infrastructure environments and solve problems when they arise, to minimize impact to business operations.
Cisco certification such as the CCNA / CCDA or equivalent and will be considered an asset.
