Our client, a fast-growing venture capital firm located in Toronto, is seeking their inaugural Finance Lead. Reporting to the CFO, the individual will manage the multiple facets of corporate and fund finance and operations as well as provide support to the investment team on technical tax and legal matters.
The successful candidate will be a highly valued resource to the North American portfolio companies, providing guidance around improving their reporting and finance functions.

Responsibilities Manage the multiple facets of corporate and fund finance and operations
Provide support to the investment team on technical tax and legal matters
Run a virtual operations team to support the business
Act as a resource to the finance leads of the portfolio companies in order to help them improve their reporting and finance functions
Qualifications 7-10 years of work experience with exposure to venture capital, private equity or partnership / fund
CPA, CA designation
Experience in financial and performance reporting, planning and compliance in either an investment management, Enterprise SaaS or FinTech organization
Valuation experience considered a strong asset
Experience managing communication to investors or other stakeholders
Experience working with legal documentation for investment / debt deals and for limited partnerships / funds considered a strong asset
Tax experience with investment transactions / fund structuring in a US-Canadian cross border environment considered a strong asset
Strong critical thinking, technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to operate at both a strategic level, as required, but also to be able to focus on the detail with respect to completing accounting, tax and reporting deliverables

Dynamic and engaged team player with strong interpersonal capabilities, who can work well with external (investors, portfolio company finance staff, service providers) and internal teams
