Stream 1 : EC-07 : Education :

Education :

  • Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Economics, Sociology or Statistics.
  • Acceptable specialization is at least one full year course or two half-year courses in in Economics, Sociology or Statistics.
  • Stream 2 : CO-03 : Education :

    Education :

  • Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education and significant relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of work demonstrated normally acquired by performing duties for a period of approximately five (5) years.
  • Experience :

    You have acquired at least two (2) years’ experience where you :

  • Prepared and provided substantive, complex* verbal and written briefings / reports, to support decision making by senior officials.
  • Established and maintained effective relationships with a network of contacts.
  • Represented your organization by participating in various meetings / conferences / committees.
  • Led a complex* initiative / project or led various phases of one.
  • Led project teams / working groups, involving different disciplines / specializations, to develop options and recommend a broad range of strategies / plans to influence decision makers.
  • Synthesized complex* ideas, developed options and provided strategic advice / recommendations to senior management.
  • You have acquired experience where you :

  • Contributed to management of human and financial resources.
  • Experience in Policy development.
  • Experience :

  • Experience in leading economic development projects and / or programs.
  • Experience in developing and providing advice on complex* matters.
  • Experience in building and cultivating effective and reciprocal networks and collaborations.
  • Experience in managing human and financial resources.
  • Complex is defined as referring to at least one (1) of the following characteristics : involving multiple partners or stakeholders, impacting a community / organization / economic sector, having a potential for a significant socio-economic outcome, or other similar characteristics.
  • Stream 1& 2 :

  • Knowledge of economic strengths, opportunities and challenges for Northern Ontario.
  • Stream 1- EC-07 :

  • Knowledge of research methodologies and statistical methods and / or techniques.
  • Knowledge of policy formulation and research to provide expertise in the development of departmental / regional policies and strategies.

  • Graduation with a Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in economics, sociology, statistics, business / commerce, political science, public policy, mathematics or a related field.
  • Stream 2 : CO-03

  • A recognized professional accounting designation.
  • Asset experience :

    Stream 1 and 2 : EC-07 / CO-03

  • Experience working with indigenous communities, businesses and stakeholders.
  • Stream 2 : CO-03

  • Experience in regional economic development.
