    WSP is currently seeking a Surveyor In Training to join our Geomatics Team, located in Oakvile, ON.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform land surveys;
  • Analyze and review data gathered by field crews to ensure completeness and accuracy of survey information;
  • Use survey data to generate coordinate files for use in determining property lines, benchmarks, topographical features, cross-

  • sections, field notes, quantities of materials used, and metes and bounds descriptions;
  • Prepare scale drawings and plans for various construction projects, rights-of-way, easements, or boundary determinations;
  • Prepare and reviews easements, property descriptions, plans, ordinances, and agreements;
  • Research ownership, right-of-way, and other property issues;
  • Interpret maps, construction drawings, and legal descriptions;
  • Perform complex mathematical calculations using Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry;
  • Perform related work as assigned;
  • Provide leadership, work assignments, evaluation, training, and guidance to others;
  • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods used in the measurement or determination of land boundaries, distances, elevations, areas, angles, and other features of the earth’s surface;
  • Knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry;
  • Skilled in using various Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) applications;
  • Skilled in the collection, analysis, and reporting of complex numerical data;
  • Skilled in established and maintaining effective working relationships with others;
  • Ability to properly maintain complex engineering files and records;
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, plats, sketches, field books, and construction drawings;
  • Ability to adhere to the principles and practices of professional land surveying;
  • Ability to use CAD, GIS, and other survey-related software;
  • Ability to use a hand-held calculator;
  • Ability to conduct research with legal documents.
